Hi, I'm Alex, and I'm a huge nerd.
I've been playing games since I was old enough to hold a Gameboy. Gaming has always been a passion of mine, and I've always been a powergamer at heart. I've long delighted in exploring the full extent of games and their systems, and exploiting their mechanics to the fullest in order to squeeze every drop of power out of my characters.
Now, I'm looking to be on the other side of that arrangement. I want to design games systems and mechanics for people like myself who delight in complexity and problem solving. I want to give back to the industry that has given so much to me over the years.
I define myself by being different. I'm always looking for new ways to do things, new things to do, and new experiences to dive into. I prize true innovation over all else, and I believe the best design builds on the tried and true foundations of industry-wide conventions that have stood the test of time, by pairing them with new and exciting mechanics that cater to all prospective types of players.
Some of my big inspirations are auteur designers like Suda51 and Hideki Kamiya, but an increasing amount of my inspiration comes from the evolving indie dev scene as well.
